A hiker who suffered a lower extremity injury in Beaumont was hoisted by a helicopter Tuesday evening and taken to meet a ground ambulance.

Rescue crews received a call about an injured hiker on a trail near Highland Springs Avenue and Circle Road about 8:10 p.m., according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Fire department rescue crew members hiked into the area and located the hiker. They treated the person at the scene while the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Star9 helicopter prepared a hoist operation.

The hiker was successfully hoisted and the helicopter took the patient to meet a ground ambulance, the fire department reported.
