A hiker who was airlifted from a hard-to-reach spot on a La Quinta trail Saturday was hospitalized in serious condition.
Fire crews were dispatched at 10:42 a.m. to the Cove to Lake Cahilla trail after a hiker suffered an unspecified medical emergency about two miles from the trailhead, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
After firefighters reached the hiker, a Riverside County sheriff’s helicopter was called in to hoist the person to an awaiting ground ambulance.
