A brush fire ignited in a palm grove in Thermal Wednesday, but no structures were immediately threatened.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 10:36 a.m. near where Van Buren Street and Avenue 58 intersect, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
As of 11:30 a.m., the fire had scorched a quarter-acre, and California Highway Patrol officers were on scene handling traffic control.
No evacuations were immediately ordered.
