Authorities have yet to figure out what compelled a 31-year-old man to suddenly jump onto the side of a moving Mercedes-Benz early Sunday in La Puente, which left him with a severe head injury at an area hospital.
The driver, a 26-year-old woman, was heading north on Paseo Monte Covina, south of Via De Las Casitas, when 31-year-old Christian Macias decided to jump onto the side of her car, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The woman became startled and struck a brick wall, resulting in minor injuries. The CHP and paramedics were dispatched to the scene at about 12:15 a.m.
The driver, a Corona resident, was taken to Emanate Health Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina, with complaints of pain to her left arm, the CHP said.
Macias, also a resident of Corona, was rushed to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center with a severe head injury.
The CHP’s Baldwin Park-area office urged anyone who saw the incident to call them at 626-338-1164.
