A couch that fell onto the Riverside (91) Freeway Wednesday triggered a four-vehicle wreck that left one motorist injured and partially blocked westbound lanes just east of Interstate 15 in Riverside.
The multi-vehicle collision was reported at 4:30 p.m. on the westbound 91 near the I-15 connector, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A sofa tumbled out of a truck and into the fast lane, resulting in the crash involving a Nissan sedan, Nissan Xterra SUV, Kia sedan and Toyota Camry, the CHP reported.

The Toyota driver suffered a gash to the head and was treated by Riverside Fire Department paramedics, according to reports from the scene. It was unclear whether the motorist was taken to a hospital.
Two of four westbound lanes were closed because of the collision, and a SigAlert was issued about 5 p.m. as traffic backed up for miles. CHP officers were conducting a preliminary investigation and working to reopen lanes as of 5:30 p.m.
Two vehicles sustained major damage and had to be towed away from the location. There was no word on the whereabouts of the motorist who dropped the couch.
