The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose Friday to its highest amount since March 22, increasing a half-cent to $3.172 after rising by one-tenth of a cent for two consecutive days.

The average price is eight-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and 4.9 cents higher than one month ago but 32.2 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped 33.6 cents since the start of the year.

“Many Gulf Coast refineries closed ahead of Hurricane Laura’s landfall (Thursday) morning, but initial reports indicate minimal damage to refinery facilities,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.

“Los Angeles is expecting a large shipment of imported gasoline components (Friday), putting some downward pressure on wholesale gasoline prices.”
