A fire that erupted Friday in a carport adjacent to a gas station in Moreno Valley consumed several vehicles and extended to an apartment building before crews knocked it down.

The non-injury blaze was reported about 10:55 a.m. at the intersection of Alessandro Boulevard and Frederick Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Multiple engine crews encountered flames raging behind the USA Gas Station, where electrical lines had also collapsed.

At least two vehicles were in flames, with the fire burning part of the carport and extending to the back of an apartment building, according to reports from the scene.

Firefighters contained the blaze about 11:20 a.m. Southern California Edison technicians de-energized the transmission lines, disrupting power to the immediate area.
