A man died after being ejected from his SUV in a rollover crash in Rancho Mirage Saturday.
The solo-vehicle crash occurred at around 1:30 a.m. on northbound Bob Hope Drive, north of Dinah Shore, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators said the driver of the SUV was speeding and lost control when the vehicle hit a curb, causing it to overturn multiple times, ejecting the driver.
When first responders arrived at the location around 8 a.m., they found the white SUV overturned about 25 yards from the roadway and the driver dead nearby, said Sgt. Randy Vasquez.
The driver was later identified as Nicholas Spears, 27, of Desert Hot Springs, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
“The cause of this collision is still under investigation, and it is unknown if alcohol may be a factor,” said Vasquez.
