Although much of Riverside County enjoyed temperate weather last week, another round of above average heat is in store for next week.

Forecasters said Sunday is a transition day with only slight warming, when highs are expected to top 80 degrees in Beaumont, 85 degrees in Riverside, 85 degrees in Lake Elsinore, 95 degrees in Thermal, and 97 degrees in Palm Springs, according to the National Weather Service.

But triple-digit temperatures and low humidity, along with gusty winds, will be back beginning Monday, resulting in elevated fire weather conditions, according to forecasters.

“Hot and dry will summarize the week ahead,” the NWS said.

Highs will reach well into the 90s inland on Monday while the Coachella Valley will reach the century mark, forecasters said.

A heat advisory might be issued sometime mid-week, but the NWS said the shorter days may mitigate the heat risk.

Forecaster said the above normal temperatures and dry weather is likely to persist into the week after next as well, just not quite as hot.
