A brush fire that broke out Tuesday near Moreno Valley blackened about 10 acres before firefighters gained the upper hand.
The non-injury blaze was reported about 7:45 a.m. in the area of Gilman Springs Road and Alessandro Boulevard, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Ten engine companies and four hand crews sent to the location encountered a 2 1/2-acre blaze burning slowly. A Cal Fire air tanker was summoned to make runs from above.
The fire’s forward rate of spread was halted about 9 a.m., and crews were expected to remain on scene until about 11 a.m.
No property damage was reported.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
