A motorcyclist was injured Friday in a collision with an SUV on the Riverside (91) Freeway, prompting lane closures.
The crash happened about 12:20 p.m. on the eastbound 91 at Magnolia Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency said the motorcycle and a Chevrolet Suburban impacted in the fast lane, but no other details were available.
The rider was thrown off his bike and landed in the HOV lane. CHP officers shut down it, as well as the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes, temporarily leaving only one lane open, snarling traffic, according to reports from the scene.
Riverside Fire Department crews reached the location 10 minutes later and found the motorcyclist conscious but suffering from moderate to major injuries. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Officers began gradually reopening lanes shortly before 1 p.m.
The cause of the collision was under investigation.
