A 34-year-old man was charged Thursday with killing an 80-year-old man in Anaheim 15 years ago.
Mike Carrillo Nunez, who turns 35 in a week, was charged with murder with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon.
Nunez was accused of killing Il Jae Kim on Dec. 14, 2011.
Officers were called about 9 p.m., Dec. 15, 2011, to an apartment in the 200 block of South Western Avenue, police said at the time. They found Kim’s body in the apartment.
Anaheim police revived the cold case in March, and working with the Orange County Crime Lab investigators, were able to link the defendant to the crime through advances in DNA technology, police said.
