Hundreds of Southern California Edison customers continued to be without power in Los Angeles and Orange counties early Monday due to extreme heat and in most cases officials were estimating power would be restored within 24 hours.
The outages reportedly began Sunday afternoon and evening in Long Beach, Lakewood and other parts of south Los Angeles County as well as Newport Beach, Irvine, Mission Viejo and other parts of Orange County. Multiple outages are also scattered around the San Fernando Valley and San Gabriel Valley.
Most listings on Edison’s outage map at sce.com indicated the cause was due to extreme heat, that “we are assessing damages,” and that power would be restored within 24 hours.
