If it felt pretty warm overnight, you were right. Records for highest minimum temperatures were set Friday in Santa Ana and Newport Beach, says the National Weather Service.

Santa Ana’s low was 76 on 9/11 — breaking the previous record of 70 in 2012, with measurements going back to 1906, the agency said.
Newport Beach had a low of 75 — above the previous record of 71 in 2004, with temps taken as far back as 1921.
The weather service also noted record-high minimums for San Diego (78), Vista (71), Chula Vista (75), Escondido (75), Ramona (67) and El Cajon (76). San Diego’s temperature records extend back to 1875.
Elsinore (73) and Riverside (74) also recorded record high minimums, beating previous marks of 70 and 73, respectively, with measurements going back to the 1890s.
