Dust off that unused umbrella — a storm will move through Southern California Sunday, bringing showers to the Southland through the first part of next week.

Light rain and cooler weather are expected, along with areas of strong winds Sunday morning. Rainfall will vary across the region with 0.20 to 0.80 inch in coast and valley areas, over an inch in parts of the mountains, and less than a tenth inch in the deserts.

Rain should continue Monday with high temperatures in the low to mid 70s. But forecasts are mixed about what happens Tuesday, with some experts saying the region will dry out Tuesday while others say rain could continue that day.

But before Sunday’s rain starts, we’ll still have sunny and warm weather throughout the Southland Friday and Saturday, with high temperatures at or close to 80 at the beaches both days and 85 in downtown Los Angeles and other inland areas and valleys.
