Light rain was falling in downtown Los Angeles Sunday morning as a cold and windy low-pressure system moved south through Southern California.
The National Weather Service said rainfall amounts will generally range between one tenth and one half inch across most of the region, with between one half and one inch across portions of the Los Angeles and Ventura county mountains and foothills.
“Due to the showery nature of the precipitation, rainfall amounts will be quite variable. There is also a slight chance of thunderstorms,” the weather service said.
There will be a chance of lingering showers on Sunday night into Monday, mainly across the mountains, where snow is possible above 8,000 feet.
Temperatures on Sunday are expected to be in the lower t0 mid 70s in central Los Angeles and from l70 to 75 in coastal Orange County.
