A long period south-southwest swell will produce moderate to strong rip currents across Los Angeles county beaches on Sunday.

The National Weather Service office in Oxnard said breakers of 3 to 5 feet will be likely across south and southwest facing beaches. This rip current activity can cause an increased risk of ocean drowning.

Swimmers and surfers were advised to swim near a lifeguard and avoid standing on rocks or jetties near the water’s edge as unexpectedly larger waves may occur.

The forecast for central Los Angeles from Malibu to Long Beach calls for low clouds in the morning, then clearing with highs in the mid 60s to lower 70s. Temperatures will drop to the mid 50s on Sunday night with low clouds and patchy fog.

It will be partly cloudy in coastal Orange County with patchy drizzle in the morning. Highs will be around 68, and lows overnight in the mid 50s.
