An SUV and a Metrolink train collided Tuesday in Granada Hills, leaving the driver hospitalized along with three train passengers.
The crash involving the Antelope Valley Line No. 216 train was reported at 1:59 p.m. in the 14800 block of North San Fernando Road, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
The SUV driver and three train passengers were evaluated by paramedics at the scene and taken to area hospitals, Humphrey said. One of those passengers suffered from a “minor illness” and two had minor injuries, he said. Two other train passengers were evaluated at the scene but declined further care. The extent of the SUV driver’s injuries was unclear.
A second person inside the SUV fled the scene, Metrolink spokesman Paul Gonzales said.
The southbound train was bound for Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, and Metrolink arranged for a bus bridge to shuttle passengers to their destination.
The crash occurred about 5 1/2 hours after a pedestrian in her 30s was struck and fatally injured by another Metrolink Antelope Valley Line train in the 13800 block of North San Fernando Road in nearby Sylmar.
