A Los Angeles County Fire Department 40-member water rescue team that deployed last week to the Hawaiian Islands to assist in the response to Hurricane Douglas is returning home Thursday, authorities said.
California Task Force 2, headquartered in Pacoima, is an Urban Search and Rescue team with specialized equipment and training, said Los Angeles County fire Capt. Ron Haralson.
“Hurricane Douglas eventually weakened in intensity and was later downgraded in status, allowing CA-TF2 to be deactivated,” Haralson said.
The task force had been activated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Haralson said.
