Los Angeles County health officials issued a water quality advisory Sunday for local beaches in light of the recent storm.
Residents were advised that bacteria, chemicals, debris, trash and other health hazards from city streets and mountain areas were likely to contaminate ocean waters at and around discharging storm drains, creeks and rivers. Individuals who enter the water in these areas could become ill, according to Dr. Muntu Davis, the county’s health officer.
The advisory was in effect until at least 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, but could be extended depending on further rainfall.
