Firefighters extinguished a fire on a power boat Sunday in Wilmington.

The fire broke out around 3 p.m. Sunday, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department, which reported smoke showing from the approximately 25-foot watercraft.

The department dispatched 34 firefighters to the site and they extinguished the flames in 17 minutes, spokesman Nicholas Prange said. The firefighters extended hose lines from the dock to put water on the fire, protecting the dock and vessels in slips on either side of the burning boat, Prange continued.

No occupants were aboard the boat at the time. No one was injured and no other boats were damaged, Prange said.

The cause of the fire was being investigated.
