The second CicLAvia event of 2024 will be held Sunday along Venice Boulevard in the Palms, Mar Vista and Venice area, where 5.75 miles of the busy thoroughfare will be closed to motorized vehicles.

The 51st CicLAvia street festival will last from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The route will stretch from Pacific Avenue near the coast, east to National Boulevard.

The street festivals are designed by city officials to encourage residents to explore what different neighborhoods have to offer on foot or via other non-motorized modes of transport. Motorized vehicles are forbidden, but bicyclists, walkers, runners and skaters are welcome,

“By closing the street to cars, we open it up for people,” Los Angeles Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky said. “Whether you’re cycling, walking, or skating, you’re participating in a vision of Los Angeles that prioritizes public spaces and community health over car traffic.”

Sunday’s route includes the following four “hubs,” which offer family-friendly activities, restrooms, free water refilling stations, free basic bike repair, bike parking and first aid:

— Venice Beach Hub located at Windward Circle;

— Mar Vista Hub on Venice Boulevard near Beethoven Street;

— Palms Hub on Venice Boulevard near Huron Avenue;

— National Hub on Venice Boulevard west of National Boulevard.

The first CicLAvia was held on Oct. 10, 2010. Six full-scale festivals are planned for 2024, along with smaller “CicLAminis” in Wilmington on May 19 and Lincoln Heights on Sept. 15. The next full CicLAvia after Sunday’s event will be held on June 23 in South Los Angeles.
