A 100-foot-by-200-foot spot fire broke out Monday evening in the Olinda Alpha Landfill in Brea and burned for about 90 minutes before being extinguished by firefighters.

The fire was reported at 9:10 p.m. in the area of 1942 Valencia Ave., according to Greg Barta of the Orange County Fire Authority, which issued a full response along with the Los Angeles County, Brea and Fullerton fire departments.

The fire was confirmed to be in the landfill and was not threatening anything of value, the Brea Fire Department reported about 10:10 p.m.

The flames were extinguished about 10:40 p.m., the OCFA said, adding a coordinated effort by all agencies made quick work of the fire.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
