A Los Angeles Police Department officer accused of flashing a gun at a motorist in Valencia during an alleged road-rage incident while off-duty pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a felony charge.
Georgeta Buruiana, 38, could face up to three years in county jail if convicted of brandishing at a person in a vehicle, prosecutors said.
Buruiana allegedly flashed a gun at a motorist who made a U-turn in front of her near Rye Canyon Road and The Old Road on Dec. 14. She was arrested by sheriff’s deputies and released from jail about four hours later on $20,000 bond.
Buruiana was assigned to home duty after her arrest, pending the completion of a department administrative investigation, LAPD Officer Mike Lopez said last December.
Defense attorney Bill Seki said he was “surprised it (the criminal case) got filed.”
“I look forward to having all the facts come out in the case,” Buruiana’s lawyer said.
