The shootings occurred just after 11 a.m. Sunday in the 25800 block of Hillworth Avenue, according to Deputy Michelle Sanchez of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Deputies responding to a rescue call found the two boys and a man in his mid-40s dead from gunshot wounds and it appeared the man’s wound was self-inflicted, Sanchez said.

The homicides were the first in Lomita since 2018. Leroy Jessie Abeyta, 46, was shot on Feb. 15, 2018, at the intersection of 258th Place and Cayuga Avenue and died seven days later, Sanchez told City News Service.
