Workers at a Hollywood Ralphs store where 22 employees have tested positive for COVID-19 will be the first in the chain to receive free testing offered by its parent company, their union announced Monday.
Workers at the “Rock and Roll Ralphs” at 7257 Sunset Blvd. staged a May Day protest after many workers at the store reported they had tested positive for the virus, according to the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 770.
Kroger, Ralphs’ parent company, agreed to provide the chain’s employees with free COVID-19 testing, the union announced May 4.
Testing will be available Tuesday and Wednesday, according to Kathy Finn, secretary-treasurer of UFCW Local 770.
“Testing is a key ingredient to slowing the spread of the virus and keeping workers and customers safe,” Finn said.
“With so many asymptomatic people, regular testing is essential to safety. Kroger has met the demands of workers at the Rock and Roll Ralphs and now they must expand testing to all workers.”
