A person was fatally struck Saturday evening by a hit-and-run vehicle in Mecca.
It was reported at 8:55 p.m. at Avenue 66 and Date Palm Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Witnesses reported a male lying on the right-hand shoulder, while car pieces, a hat and the victim’s belongings were in the roadway, the California Highway Patrol said.
The name and age of the victim were not available, nor was a description of the vehicle.
