A man was struck and killed by a big rig Tuesday afternoon on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Van Nuys.
The collision occurred about 3:45 p.m. near Victory Boulevard, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Elizabeth Kravig.
The victim was reported to be a pedestrian, Kravig said, but there was no immediate word on why he was on the freeway.
Three southbound lanes were closed at Sherman Way but reopened by 9 p.m., the CHP reported.
