Gusty winds blew across portions of the Southland Tuesday and were expected to persist until Wednesday afternoon.
Tuesday’s strongest winds will whip across southern Santa Barbara County, the Interstate 5 corridor near The Grapevine, and the Antelope Valley, according to the National Weather Service.
A wind advisory will be in effect in the Antelope Valley and the L.A. County portion of the San Gabriel Mountains until 3 p.m. Wednesday. Winds of between 20 and 30 miles per hour are expected in both areas, gusting to around 50 mph.
“Gusty winds will make driving difficult, especially for drivers of high-profile vehicles,” according to an NWS statement, which warned of difficult conditions on Interstate 5, the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway, and Pearblossom Highway, or state Route 138.
Under partly cloudy skies, temperatures will be relatively high today: 66 on Mount Wilson; 68 in San Clemente; 71 in Newport Beach and Laguna Beach; 72 in Palmdale and Lancaster; 73 in Avalon; 74 at LAX; 76 in Saugus; 77 in Fullerton, Anaheim, Irvine and Mission Viejo; 78 in Long Beach and woodland Hills; 79 in downtown L.A., Burbank and Yorba Linda; and 80 in Pasadena and San Gabriel. Wednesday’s temperatures will tend to be a few degrees higher.
