A 14-year-old girl who walked away from her high school campus in Pasadena remains missing, police said Tuesday.
Talya Thompson was last seen leaving the John Muir High School campus at 1905 Lincoln Ave. at 11 a.m. Friday, said Pasadena police Lt. Jesse Carrillo.
“She was not under duress and there was nothing suspicious about her walking away from the campus,” Carrillo told City News Service.
The girl’s parents waited until Sunday to report her missing, he said.
“She was supposed to be with her older sister and the older sister thought she was with the mom,” Carrillo said.
“Police are concerned it took this long to report her missing,” he said, adding that it is best to submit a report to police immediately when a child goes missing, before the child has a chance to move around.
Carrillo expressed the hope that Talya will realize her parents are worried and contact them.
The girl is black with a medium complexion, 5 feet 6, 170 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone who knows her whereabouts is urged to call Pasadena Police at (626) 744-4241.
