A teenager suffered life-threatening injuries when he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle in Beaumont, authorities said Tuesday.
The collision happened at about 6:20 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Sixth Street and Xenia Avenue, according to the Beaumont Police Department.
Authorities said the victim, identified only as a local teen, was hit by a motorist who immediately stopped. The specific circumstances were not provided.
Patrol officers and Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the location within a few minutes, and the boy was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
The driver was detained for questioning but was not arrested.
It doesn’t appear that alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision, according to investigators.
