It may be the first day of autumn, but forget about crisp New England temperatures and leaves turning to red and gold.
It’s going to be summer-like hot in the Southland and it’ll be getting hotter over the next few days.
The National Weather Service forecast for Los Angeles and vicinity on Wednesday calls for areas of low clouds and fog in the morning then sunny. Highs from the mid 70s to around 80 at the beaches to the mid to upper 80s inland.
Wednesday night it will be mostly clear in the evening then areas of low clouds and fog. Lows in the mid to upper 60s.
The forecast for Thursday calls for low clouds and fog in the morning then sunny. Highs from around 80 at the beaches to the upper 80s to mid 90s inland. By this weekend we could see temperatures in downtown Los Angeles and other inland areas, as well as local valleys, reach close to triple digits, with mid-80s at the beaches.
In Coastal Orange County the forecast for Wednesday calls for partly cloudy skies in the morning then becoming mostly sunny. Highs 81 to 86.
Wednesday night it will be mostly clear in the evening then becoming partly cloudy. Patchy fog overnight. Lows around 66.
Thursday it will be partly cloudy in the morning then becoming mostly sunny. Patchy fog in the morning. Highs 84 to 89.
The ultraviolet index level in the Los Angeles area for Wednesday is a high 8, according to the weather service. A high exposure level reading of 7-9 means that a person could be sunburned in 7-8 minutes if not protected.
