Police sought the public’s help Monday to identify a man connected to a series of vandalism acts involving Jewish-owned businesses in Topanga.
Police responded to three vandalism reports around 3 a.m. Saturday, in the 20900 block of Victory Boulevard. The suspect threw rocks and cement bricks at glass windows and doors of several vacant buildings before fleeing on foot, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police said the same suspect vandalized additional businesses on Vanowen Street, Topanga Canyon Boulevard, and Sherman Way between 1 and 4 a.m. on Monday, also using bricks and rocks. The vandalism occurred within a two-mile radius.
The LAPD Major Crimes Division was investigating whether the series of attacks were hate crime-related as three of the businesses are Jewish-owned.
“The rocks recovered had ‘Glory’ and ‘Pay Up’ written on them,” police said.
Detectives were investigating additional acts of vandalism in the same area on Friday and Sunday to determine if they were related.
Police described the male suspect as a 5 foot 8 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds with balding gray hair, and possibly has a beard. He was last seen on Monday wearing a green Nike sweatshirt, black pants and white Nike shoes.
A photo of the suspect was released to the public in hopes of additional victims to come forward.
