An armed suspect who barricaded himself inside a restaurant was taken into custody Saturday after an approximately six-hour standoff in Lancaster.
Personnel from the Los Angeles County Sheriffs’ Department ‘s Special Enforcement Bureau were called to the 2000 block of West Avenue I to assist deputies from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station at approximately 7:30 p.m. Friday regarding a barricaded suspect, said Lt. Dave Auner.
Special Enforcement Bureau personnel assumed tactical command with a Crisis Negotiation Team in an effort to convince the suspect to surrender, authorities said.
After several hours, the Special Enforcement Bureau team used tear gas to coax the suspect out of the restaurant and arrested him around 1:10 a.m. Saturday.
