A brush fire that broke out Friday on the east end of Cabazon burned 1.5 acres and briefly threatened a structure before it was stopped.
The non-injury blaze was reported shortly before 4 p.m. in the area of Bonita Avenue and Elm Street, just south of Interstate 10, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a moderate rate toward an outbuilding, officials said.
Firefighters prevented damage to the structure and stopped the brusher’s forward rate of spread around 4:10 p.m., according to officials.
By 5 p.m., the fire was completely under control.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation. It was the third one in the past two weeks in Cabazon. The other two consumed more than 70 acres.
