An 18-year-old man was charged Wednesday with killing a man and wounding a woman in Tustin.

Jan Daniel Lopez of Santa Ana was charged with murder, attempted murder, failing to stop at a hit-and-run with injury, assault with a deadly weapon and car theft, all felonies. He also faces sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a deadly weapon, attempted premeditated murder, and causing great bodily injury with domestic violence.

Lopez is accused of fatally stabbing 19-year-old Julian Ezequiel Lopez of Irvine, according to Tustin police Lt. Matt Nunley. The two knew each other but were not related, Nunley said.

Police were dispatched just before 12:15 a.m. Monday to the Arbor Ranch Apartments at 15482 Pasadena Ave. regarding a pedestrian hit by a car, Nunley said.

Jan Daniel Lopez was accused of running over a woman before slamming the vehicle into a tree and then jumping out to fatally stab Julian Lopez, Nunley said.

The woman remains hospitalized but was expected to survive, Nunley said.

The defendant was arrested by Anaheim police about 2:15 a.m. Monday near 1265 N. Kraemer Blvd., Nunley said.
