A 40-year-old man suspected of kidnapping his son in Ontario and bringing him to Mexico was being sought Wednesday by the FBI.

According to authorities, Felipe De Jesus Quiroz-Jimenez picked up his son, Hansel Quiroz, on June 16, 2023, at around 4 p.m. in Ontario for a scheduled unmonitored visitation but never returned the child to his mother, who shares legal custody of the boy.

Quiroz-Jimenez was driving a 2002 silver two-door Volkswagen GTI with California license plate 7PHT055 at the time of pickup.

FBI officials said Quiroz-Jimenez and Hansel are presumed to be in Mexico City with family and may have connections to Guadalajara, Jalisco, and Guerrero, Mexico.

The child’s age was not specified.

A federal arrest warrant for suspicion of international parental kidnapping was issued for Quiroz-Jimenez on Aug. 15 in the U.S. District Court, Central District of California, located in Los Angeles.

Anyone with information regarding the pair’s whereabouts was urged to contact the FBI’s Los Angeles field office at 310-477-6565. Tipsters can also access tips.fbi.gov.
