The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County fell Friday to its lowest amount since Dec. 30, 2022, dropping eight-tenths of a cent to $4.473, decreasing for the 12th time in 13 days.
The average price has dropped 5.2 cents over the past 13 days, including eight-tenths of a cent Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It dropped eight consecutive days, rose a half-cent Monday and resumed decreasing Tuesday.
The average price is 3.4 cents less than one week ago, 13.8 cents lower than one month ago and 67.2 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $2.021 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price fell to its lowest amount since Dec. 28, 2022, dropping 1 cent to $4.378, its fourth consecutive decrease after a four-day streak of increases totaling 1 cent. It has dropped 3.6 cents over the past four days, including seven-tenths of a cent Thursday.
The Orange County average price is 2.9 cents less than one week ago, 14.4 cents lower than one month ago and 62.5 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $2.081 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“Oil Price Information Service reports that the switch to `winter blend’ gasoline and lower-than-expected demand are continuing to push down pump prices locally,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
“Hawaii and California are the only two states with average gas prices above $4 a gallon.”
The national average price was unchanged for the second consecutive day, remaining at $3.084. It is 1.5 cents less than one week ago, 11.9 cents lower than one month ago and 26.1 cents below what it was one year ago.
The national average price has dropped $1.932 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
