A roughly three-acre vegetation fire broke out Wednesday at a moderate rate of spread in Coachella.
The blaze was reported shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday at southbound state Route 86 and the Airport Boulevard off-ramp, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said the fire had the potential to increase to about 10 acres, and a dozer with additional resources were requested to assist at the scene.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known, and it was not immediately clear if any structures were threatened.
