One person was killed and another was injured in a multi-vehicle collision on the Ventura (101) Freeway Wednesday near Woodland Hills.

California Highway Patrol officers were called at approximately 1:36 a.m. Wednesday to the northbound freeway and the Valley Circle Boulevard exit, where a black sedan and a black SUV were found in the middle lanes of the freeway, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.

A dark sedan and a black Dodge Charger had also collided several feet away, said the CHP.

The victim, whose name, age and gender were not immediately known, was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured victim was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel.

The CHP launched an investigation into the cause of the collision.

A SigAlert was issued for the closure of all lanes of the northbound freeway and Valley Circle for two hours due to the collision.

All lanes were reopened about 5:10 a.m., according to the CHP.
