Two men suspected of inflicting injuries to another person during a confrontation in Cathedral City were arrested, with one of the suspects remaining free on bail Thursday.

Police officers responded to a report of a fight shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday in the 32500 block of Wishing Well Trail, according to the Cathedral City Police Department.

Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from knife wounds to “the abdomen and other injuries,” who was later taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, according to Cmdr. Andrew Diaz.

The severity of the victim’s injuries was not immediately known.

After talking to all parties involved, officers identified Francisco Saliasbaeza and Jesus Salvador Salinas, 44, as the suspects, who were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Salinas was booked into Benoit Detention Center in Indio Saturday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm.

He was released Sunday on $25,000 bail.

Background information on Saliasbaeza was not immediately available.

The circumstances and motive behind the alleged assault were not revealed.
