A 29-year-old man who was killed in a shooting in Pomona was identified by authorities Monday.
Officers responded around 10 p.m. Sunday to a report of a shooting victim in the 1000 block of West Second Street, according to Pomona Police Department spokeswoman Aly Mejia.
The victim, identified by the county Medical Examiner’s office as Fernando Mendez, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The victim was in the backyard of the residence, and the shot came from the alley,” Mejia said.
No suspect information or motive was immediately available.
Police taped off the area overnight as family members gathered near the scene, according to video from the scene.
