A fire at a large, three-story apartment building on a descending hillside in Baldwin Hills was knocked down Saturday by Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters.

Fire crews responded at 2:45 a.m. Saturday to 39000 block West Don Tomaso Drive and Presidio Drive near the Park to Playa Trailhead, where they found heavy fire showing from an apartment on the second story of the building, said LAFD spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton.

It took 42 firefighters to extinguish the flames in 30 minutes, Middleton said.

No injuries were reported.
