A bicyclist was struck and critically injured by a vehicle in Palm Springs Wednesday.
The rider was hit shortly after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the area of state Route 111 and Tramway Road, northwest of Gateway Drive, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.
Police said the bicyclist, who was not identified, moved into the path of an oncoming vehicle for unknown reasons and was struck.
The vehicle that hit the bicyclist was then rear-ended by another vehicle, police said.
The bike rider was taken to a hospital. None of the drivers or passengers from the vehicles were injured. All remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
It was not immediately known if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
Northbound Highway 111 at Gateway Drive was briefly closed, but later reopened.
The investigation was ongoing.
