A body was found inside a home on The Strand in Hermosa Beach Saturday following a welfare check that led to a barricade lasting more than seven hours and the arrest of a well-dressed suspect.
The situation began at 12:37 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of The Strand, Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau told City News Service.
KCAL reported that a realtor requested the welfare check after not hearing from the homeowner. The person found inside was not that person, and a body was also found.
Hermosa Beach police retreated and the suspect did not come out of the home until about 9 p.m.
KCAL video showed the suspect dressed in what appeared to be male formal attire — a dark suit, white shirt, dark tie and dark sunglasses, with hair tied back in a bun under a fedora. A Hermosa Beach police official at the scene referred to the suspect as a woman.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives were summoned to begin a crime scene investigation, Koerner said.
