A 35-year-old man suspected of robbing banks in Culver City and West Hollywood has been taken into custody, police announced Tuesday.

Officers responded at 1:10 p.m. on June 2 to the 3800 block of Culver Center, near the intersection of Venice Boulevard and Overland Avenue, after receiving reports that a man had entered a bank and presented a note to a teller claiming to be armed, according to the Culver City Police Department.

The suspect, identified as Shawn Greene, obtained an unspecified amount of cash from the teller, then ran away, police said.

He was located on Friday by deputies assigned to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station and taken into custody after attempting to rob a bank in that city, police said.

Culver City police detectives arrived at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station to interview Greene, who later admitted to committing the bank robbery that occurred on June 2.

According to police, the case has been presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, which charged Greene with two counts of bank robbery.

Anyone with information regarding the robberies was urged to call Detective Matt Stulp at 310-253-6312. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
