A two-block street closure will be in effect for the weekly Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce Summer Concert Series at Eisenhower Park that begins Wednesday.

Ocean Avenue will be closed between Main Street and 10th Street each Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. to accommodate vendors and event operations, the Seal Beach Police Department announced Tuesday.

The closure area will include vendor booths and pedestrian gathering areas adjacent to Eisenhower Park, and attendees are advised not to be seated in the street, police said.

Drivers are advised by police to plan ahead, use alternate routes, and expect increased pedestrian activity during event hours.

Police said the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce has agreed to several operational requirements for the series, including continuous staffing at roadway barricades during closure hours, event staff monitoring the closure area and seating locations, and four certified security officers assigned to each concert.

The requirements also include enforcement of event rules prohibiting alcoholic beverages and maintaining clear sidewalks and pedestrian pathways.

Additional Seal Beach Police Department staffing will be assigned for concerts expected to draw larger crowds, including those July 8 and July 22, police said. The concert series will run though Aug. 12.

Temporary no-parking restrictions will be in effect within the closure area, and vehicles parked in posted locations may be cited or towed.

Police said the traffic modifications are intended to provide a safe environment for residents and visitors while minimizing impacts to surrounding neighborhoods.

Questions regarding traffic impacts may be made to the Seal Beach Police Department at 562-799-4100.
