A man and a woman were fatally shot Thursday in Pomona.
Officers responded at approximately 3:22 p.m. to the 100 block of East Monterey Avenue to reports of shots fired, according to the Pomona Police Department.
The responding officers located a man and a woman who were both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics treated he victims, but they were later pronounced dead.
Reports from the scene indicated that the shooting incident was connected to a vehicle pursuit in Pomona involving an armed suspect, in which California Highway Patrol officials spotted the suspect and attempted an enforcement stop near Castaic Lake.
He failed to comply, and a pursuit ensued.
The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Robert Galtman of Pomona, was taken into custody by the CHP at approximately 7:30 p.m., police said.
The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.
The names of the victims were being withheld pending notification of relatives.
