Closures are expected next week on southbound lanes on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Santa Clarita so crews can make some bridge joint repairs.
The work will take place overnight beginning Monday and continue through July 18 on the Santa Clara River Bridge at Magic Mountain Parkway, according to Caltrans.
Crews will remove damaged steel components and install a new bridge joint, repairs considered “essential to maintain safety and prevent further wear on critical infrastructure,” according to a Caltrans statement.
The scheduled closures are as follows:
— Monday through Thursday, up to three lanes of the southbound 5 will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. at Magic Mountain Parkway;
— The southbound Magic Mountain Parkway off-ramp will be closed nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
— Up to three lanes of the southbound 5 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday at Magic Mountain Parkway;
— The southbound Magic Mountain Parkway off-ramp will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday.
Motorists should expect delays and plan alternate routes.
