Police Saturday are investigating a suspected gang- related shooting that left a 15-year-old boy dead and another teen wounded.
The shooting was reported at 9:39 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of South Birch, according to Sgt. Rosa Ponce de Leon of the Santa Ana Police Department.
The victims were standing on a sidewalk when they were approached by a suspect who fired shots at them, according to Santa Ana Police Sgt. S. Gatt.
Paramedics rushed Santa Ana resident Henry Plascencia to South Coast Global Medical Center, where he died from his injuries at 10:05 p.m. Friday, according to the coroner’s office.
The other teen, who was wounded in his lower extremities, was treated and released to his parents, Gatt said.
His age was not immediately known, she said. There was no suspect information immediately available.
